1.Who is/ are the main character(s) in the story? What does the main character look like?
The Prisoner Who Wore Glasses, it is interesting to see the two main characters of the story relate to one another, they have different positions. In the beginning of the story, we see Hannetjie trying to gain control over Brille, always trying to get him in trouble and punished, but as we read on, Brille turns the light onto Hannetjie saying don’t you like your own medicine? And this is one of the turning points of the story.
2. Describe the main character's situation. Where does he/she live? Does he/she live alone or with others? What does the main chracter do for a living, or is he/she dependent on others for support?
Hannetjie, a tough new prison guard or warder, takes charge of Span One, a
closely-knit group of black political prisoners in a South African.Hannetjie punishes Brille, the prisoner with glasses, severely for stealing and
talking back to him. Eventually, Brille catches Hannetjie stealing fertilizer
and uses this leverage to strike a bargain with him.
3. What are some of the chief characteristics(personality traits of the character? How are these characteristics revealed in the story? How does the main chracter interact with other characters? Npte the degree of complexity of his/her behavior, thought, and feelings; their appearances, their habits, mannerisms, speech, attitudes and values what is the main character's attitude towards his/her life? Is he/she happy or sad, content or discontented? Why?
Brille is presented as the protagonist. The central character, becomes the hero amongst his group, and displays empathy to his group and family. Hannetjie plays the role of the antagonist even though Hannetjie takes on the biggest change in behavior.
4. What sort of conflict is the character facing? How is this conflict revealed? Is it resolved? If so, how?
Brille betrays Hannetjie after he brides Brille into not telling of the stolen fertilizer. The prison only uses white warders to oversee the black prisoners. No warder has lasted more than a week with the group.
5. Is any character a developing character? If so, is his change a large or a small one? Is it a plausible cange for him? Is he sufficiently motivated? Is the change given sufficient time?
Brille has a conversation with Hannetjie the next day and Hannetjie confesses. He begins to treat Span One with a different manner than in the beginning of the story. Weak men tend to be easily intimidated
